I spent the weekend in our living room alternately watching the birds hop round in the sunshine and running out to get the washing in when it started to rain. Often, when it rains, I feel as though the weather is limiting me from all those fantastic things I would be doing otherwise: going for a run, walking to the supermarket, working in the garden. But actually, rain forces me to think about all the things I can do indoors that I often don’t get round to at the weekend: reading, writing (no arithmetic – I do enough of that in the week), knitting, cooking, watching movies and gossiping. It gives me enough time to really get stuck into things, which weekday evenings don’t offer. So here’s to rain, heartwarming soups, woolly jumpers and reading books under a blanket. It’s going to be a long, wet winter. Let’s make the most of it.

I was productive this weekend, I went for a long walk from Witley to Haslemere in Surrey. Weather wasn’t too bad and I felt productive in actually doing something other than sitting in front of the computer playing ffxiv or d3! Of course Sunday I was knackered so I had to do the things you suggested here of watching a movie and reading!

Ooh that sounds lovely! Yes, getting away from the computer tends to make me feel very virtuous too. Speaking of such things, would you be up for Sunday lunch or a walk in Crystal Palace Park or something one weekend? We’re free the next couple of weekends.

That sounds really good idea. This weekend I have friends around (we are going to watch the rugby semi finals). If that fancy lunch on the Sunday we could all go?
